A sharp thing

New “cutter” in the sewing room facilitates cutting

Precise, accurate cuts to the millimetre – whether fabric, foam or special materials. Computer-controlled, the razor-sharp blade flits over the fabric and cuts out the desired patterns and shapes.

“Even multi-layer fabrics are no problem,” says Nadine Depenbrock, garment technician at Schuchmann. Above all, the machine detects the exact nature of the materials. The knives cut pressure-sensitive foam like butter. In addition to individual cuts, special designs and series production are made much easier.

  • The new colleague. A CNC cutter supports the sewing shop.

  • A perfect cut. Each part looks identical.

  • With the cutter we can offer a constant quality and size of upholstery and fabrics in series production.

  • With the cutter there is less waste. This means that approx. 36 tonnes of CO2/year can be saved.

The CNC cutter has further positive effects

The patterns to be cut out of the fabric can be perfectly placed, reducing waste. This not only causes less waste, but has also has an impact on the CO2 balance. In this way, approx. 36 tons of CO2 are avoided annually. The CNC cutter makes an important contribution to environmental protection through its efficient mode of operation. It is therefore supported by EU funds from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Training for the cutter

To ensure that machine operators will be able to operate the machine in the future, they have been familiarized with the operation of the cutter under expert guidance. Among other things, they learned how the cutting patterns are made available to the cutter by computer and how the fabric is placed on the work surface. In times of Corona, of course, training was carried out in small groups of up to three people, keeping the distances between them.
