Properly equipped for autumn and winter – care tips for our momo.-series

Cycling is possible all year round – even in autumn and winter. Exercise in the fresh air is healthy. The forest, the field and even the streets in the cities look beautiful in autumn with the colourful trees and the rustling leaves on the ground. Also the first tyre tracks on a fresh snow-covered path. To ensure that the therapy and tricycles of the momo. series are properly equipped for this, we have put together a few care tips.

Cycling in winter exposes the bike to the most extreme conditions and the materials are put in demanding conditions at this time of year. To ensure that it functions properly and is safe, it is best to take care of your bicycle now. It is good to keep the momo. dry when it is not in use. Ideally, it should be stored in a garage, a (bicycle) cellar or in a wide hallway. This allows the ice and slush that sticks to the bike to melt better and not freeze.

Clean up after the ride

When you come home from a ride in the snow or forest, the bike is often dirty. Then it’s a good idea to clean the momo tricycle. All you need is a bucket of warm water and some washing-up liquid. This will wash off road salt, which can otherwise cause severe damage to the bike. Of course, dry it off after washing. We do the same after a shower or a warm bath.

It runs like clockwork!

The mechanisms have to be moved and lubricated in order to function. Especially in autumn and winter, the bicycle chain, sprockets and hub should be properly lubricated. The same goes for all moving parts such as the rear derailleur, front derailleur and the pivots of the brake and shift levers. But please do not splash or spill! Remove excess grease with a grease rag, because the dirt will stick to it wonderfully and then act unintentionally like a grinding paste. A few squirts of oil on the Bowden cables (like the gearshift and brake cables) won’t hurt either, so that they run smoothly in the casing.

Brake pads also suffer greatly from winter conditions. Old pads often harden in cold temperatures and should therefore be replaced. A look at the tyre tread is also advisable. Smooth tyres, like slicks as used in car racing, are no good when driving through snow, rain and damp leaves.

See and be seen

In autumn and winter it gets light later and dark earlier. To bring enough light into the dark season, the lights on the momo tricycle. should work. Are all the cables on the dynamo in order? Are the front and rear lights in working order? Cat’s eyes on the spokes or mudguard are also important. If you want to do even more for your visibility, you might want to wear a bright yellow high-visibility waistcoat while riding.
