We are Schuchmann.

We are Miriam and Torsten Schuchmann. Our family-run company is now in its second generation, our company has over 40 years of experience in producing and selling childrens’ therapy equipment. It is a matter close to our hearts to support children with individual requirements as optimally as possible – using products which are just as individual as they are.

What inspires us.

The reason we have focused our efforts on childrens’ rehabilitation equipment has its origins in our own family. We have first-hand experience and completely understand the challenges associated with a severly handicapped person with multiple disabilities. When Miriam’s sister was young the development of rehabilitation equipment was at a very early stage. Her parents knew what they could improve in order to facilitate her participation in everyday life, and a business concept was born.

What we inspire.

Our aim is to support children with disabilities so that they can become more mobile and independent. At the same time, our task has more far-reaching implications. Meanwhile our 180-man team works closely with specialist dealers, doctors and therapists so that we can truly understand the requirements of the children and their families. An extremely moving process for all those involved. Our products represent more than just products. They become companions for life. And last of all, we want to get the market moving – with real innovations in rehabilitation equipment which fulfil the maximum demands on functionality, design and safety.

“Screw Fitting” Principle

Details that have symbolic importance for us are the slide bearings and fitting screw. Our connecting points are manufactured extremely precisely so that they fit snugly – even years later. These are enhanced by precisely designed pivots that always lie on the full material of the screws or axles, never on the thread. Our products are solid and durable especially because we focus on the details during the development and design phases. In Torsten Schuchmann’s words: “This is nothing special for us, this is simply quality.”

Our “Screw Fitting Principle” epitomises the essence of our product development work – and what makes our products stand out from others. It is our engineering skills and love of technical details. Ultimately, a product can only be as good as the technical expertise of the person who builds it. A tenth of a millimetre play at the ground level means several millimetres of play at the top of a product – technical precision is a mind-set for us.

“madita” Principle

At Schuchmann, all our products are measured against the most successful products. And our most successful product has always been madita. madita is a solid, modular and expedient aid – in brief: Children sit ideally in madita. So it is little wonder that madita has become the measure of all products that we develop.

The “madita Principle” also ensures that we continue to enhance and develop all our products, even madita itself. In particular the children, their parents and all specialists involved in the care process, for whom our products are made and who work with them, play a role in this process. We call them the “talks around the kitchen table” – the opportunities for us to sit down and talk to families about the needs of the child and the family and how our products can improve day-to-day life. These meetings are not just idle talk, they serve as the basis for product optimisation. Any ideas we are given here are not discarded, they are sent straight to the development department. This allows us to grow with our customers and form close bonds.

"Testing" Principle

The proof is in the pudding – this is especially important considering the wide range of products at Schuchmann. Because, at the end of the day, they need to fit perfectly so that children have the greatest success.

How is the right product found? We try it out directly with the child. We provide a full free assessment and set up service followed by regular reviews if required. We attend exhibitions, demonstrations and training days so that therapists and carers are as happy with the products as we are.
